How do you start your day? Do you use an alarm clock then press snooze a couple of times?
Are you irritable until you have had your first cup of coffee? Do you think about all of the things you must do during the day and feel overwhelmed?
These are all attitudes.
So often we are not aware of the various attitudes that we present to the world. We can have different attitudes with our family, our friends, our coworkers, our neighbours and so on.
And sometimes we can have multiple attitudes. Our attitudes are usually based on a belief that we have about ourselves. They come as thoughts I am so angry…frustrated…upset…in love…happy. Then they move into matching feelings and if strong enough into action that leads to a positive or negative result.
Your attitude can change from one minute to the next. Have you ever had a rather heated discussion with one of your family members and the phone rings. It’s your best friend with good news for you. How does your attitude change? Most of the time it would change instantly. So if it can change instantly, that means you have control over your attitude.
We allow ourselves to unconsciously feel these attitudes. But we do have a choice. We can make a conscious choice about what attitude we embrace for the day.
Action Step
How do you colour your world? Like choosing a crayon, you can choose the attitude for your day. For me, certain colours evoke a specific feeling. I find sky blue is uplifting. Looking at the sky gives me a sense of expansion of limitless potential. Grass green grounds me and I feel a connection to the earth.
By using the feelings that you attach to certain colours, you can decide your attitude for the day, then use the colour for the day to remind you of the attitude you have chosen
